News Conference on Joplin, Missouri Tornado

(NECN/KODE/KSNF) - EOC (emergency operations center) officials held a news conference on Tuesday morning to discuss the deadly tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri on Sunday.

The storm is blamed for at least 117 deaths. This was the single deadliest twister in the past 60 years, according to the National Weather Service. Search and rescue efforts are currently underway.

Forecasters say more severe weather, including the possibility of another tornado outbreak, is expected in the region.

President Barack Obama is expected to visit Joplin on Sunday.
