Obama: Storm Damage ‘nothing Short of Catastrophic'

(NECN: Washington, D.C.) - President Barack Obama calls the storms that left at least 250 people dead in the south is, "nothing short of catastrophic".

President Barack Obama addressed the storms in the south before announcing changes to his national security team Thursday afternoon.

"We can't control when and where a terrible storm may strike," says Obama. "But we can control how we respond to it."

The President has declared a state of emergency in Alabama where officials have confirmed at least 180 deaths. He will visit the state Friday to view the damage.
