Radiation From Japan Found in New England

(NECN: Tom Langford, Nashua, N.H.) - Low amounts of radiation from a Japan nuclear plant have made their way to New England. Trace amounts were discovered in a rainwater sample in Boston on Sunday. Today, it's being detected in northern New England.

The snow with trace amounts of radiation was collected last week at this monitoring station on the roof of a state building in Concord, New Hampshire.

The director of the state's Health and Human Services Department, Dr. Jose Montero, says the levels of radioactivity are so small, they pose absolutely no health risk.

He also adds, the finding was expected.

As NECN meteorologist Matt Noyes explains, as soon as the radiation leaked from the Japanese plant… it got caught up in the Jet Stream… where its being whisked around the world.

But as the radioactive matter travels, its also getting diluted.
