Rina Weakens to Tropical Depression, Batters Cancun

    Rain causes flooding and erosion along parts of Mexican coast (Published Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014)

    (NECN/CNN) - Former Hurricane Rina has weakened to a tropical depression as it moves out to sea from Mexico's Yucatan coast.

    Rina's maximum sustained winds are down to 35 mph, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

    Rina's eye was about 15 miles west-northwest of Cancun, Mexico on Friday morning.
