Schools in Sandwich, Mass. Closed All Week

(NECN) - School is back in session for Somerville, Mass., while other parts of the state continue to struggle to recover from the historic blizzard.

City officials in Somerville originally planned to remain closed through Wednesday, but made enough progress on Tuesday to lift the snow emergency.

A partial parking ban was still in effect, as cars were only allowed to park on even sides of the street.

Out on the Cape, schools in Sandwich would remain closed through the rest of the week, and since the following week was school vacation week, they would not reopen until Feb. 25 at the earliest.

The superintendent says problems with the generator at the high school and water damage at a K-8 school forced the decision.
