Stay Safe in the Extreme Heat

(NECN) - As the heat advisory continues in much of the New England area, many residents are looking to stay indoors with air conditioning, if possible.

For those who do not have air conditioning, or who need to be outside, there are some important health tips to keep in mind.

James Hooley, Chief of Boston EMS, joined "The Morning Show" to discuss the Do's and Don'ts of the hot weather:

Do
Drink lots of water and stay hydrated
Check on elderly persons
Rest often in shady areas

Don't
Underestimate the seriousness of heat-related emergencies!
Drink alcoholic or caffeinated beverages
Overexert yourself or work outside without taking breaks
