Sugarloaf Skier Describes ‘panic' at Resort When Ski Lift Derailed

(NECN: Carrabassett Valley, Maine) - Skier Kait Dingley describes the scene of a chair lift derailment at Maine's Sugarloaf ski area.

Kait, 19, was not on the lift at the time, but she was skiing in the area.

Some skiers today plummeted as far as 30 feet to the slop below; six people were hurt.

None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

At 4,237 feet, Sugarloaf is Maine's second-highest mountain after Mount Katahdin.
