Threat of Bridge Collapse in Coventry, Rhode Island Lessens

(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Coventry, RI) - Flooding in Rhode Island is expected to persist for several days.

Rushing water from the Pawtuxet River is still threatening to collapse a bridge in Coventry. Nearly 200 people there have already been evacuated.

Officials had feared that the Laurel Avenue bridge could fall into the Pawtuxet River and damage several dams downstream, sending a torrent of water into the already swollen river.
