(NECN) - Every natural disaster opens the door for con artists -- people looking to scam homeowners in light of the recent floods.
So, how do you protect yourself?
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley joins NECN with some advice.
Coakley says "unsavory individuals" will try to capitalize on
unsuspecting homeowners. She urged consumers to do their homework
before choosing a contractor, insist on a written contract and make
no more than a one-third deposit on the projected cost of repairs.
