Tracking the Tropics: Quick Development May Threaten Central America

A parade of tropical waves have been charging off the African coast, but the combination of dry Saharan air and ample wind shear have inhibited development of these waves until they reach the Western Atlantic basin.  The latest area of interest - Invest Area 93L - is no exception to this recent rule.  Though the wave lacked a surface circulation late Tuesday night, favorable wind aloft and very warm ocean water is likely to support steady or perhaps even rapid organization of this wave, which should become a hurricane before landfalling in Central America.
