Tree Crashes Into Reading, Mass. House

(NECN: Kathryn Sotnik, Reading, Mass.) - A tree fell onto a house on Summer Avenue in Reading, Mass. Saturday, causing a very scary moment for the homeowners.

Town workers, electrical crews and police remained on the scene to help clean up and keep people safe.

According to the homeowners, the integrity of the tree was compromised before it fell. It was rotted and unstable.

The family says that a portion of the tree fell down Saturday morning and hit the power lines.

Workers removed part of the tree and left the remaining portion to be removed on Monday, but according to the family, a heavy wind brought the rest of it down in the afternoon.

"All of the sudden, I heard what sounded like something bad happening and I looked out and the tree was going," said homeowner Pamela Higgins.

No one was injured in the incident.
