Tropical Depression Forms Off Mexico's Coast

MIAMI (AP) - A tropical depression has formed in the Pacific off
Mexico's southwestern coast and a tropical storm warning was issued
for the area.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami says the tropical storm
warning is for the coast of Mexico from Salina Cruz to Lagunas de
Chacahua. A tropical storm watch was in effect for the Mexican
coast from west of Lagunas de Chacahua to Punta Maldonado.

The depression has maximum sustained winds near 30 mph (45 kph).
Forecasters say some gradual strengthening is expected during the
next 48 hours and the depression could become a tropical storm by
Thursday.

The depression is centered about 100 miles (160 kilometers)
south-southwest of Salina Cruz and is expected to be within the
warning area over the next day or two.
