Wintry Mix Causes Treacherous Driving in Mass.

(NECN: Tom Langford, Harvard, Mass.) - From slushy side streets in Needham to a snow-covered Route 2 in Concord, getting around Eastern Massachusetts has been tough for most of the day.

"It's pretty bad. Nice and slow, lots of traffic. It's hard to get anywhere you're going."

Curt Cusic spent more than 5 hours driving from Rhode Island to Lexington…a ride that should take about an hour and a half.

Although, he did better than the driver of this Fed Ex truck…he slid off a snow-covered road in Acton while trying to make a turn.

Plows have been out all day…but the people have been out too…with many of them leaving early from work.

"I'm heading back home to new Hampshire."

"It's crazy. I have to get home because the kids are out of school."

With all the cars on the road…clearing away the snow, sleet and ice has proved to be quite a challenge.

We found Jake Aquaro trying to plow this parking lot.

"We can't really do much because there's people everywhere and people walking. But it is what it is, so we do the best that we can."
