Pete Bouchard joined the NBC 10 Boston and necn family in January of 2016, and broadcasts weekday evenings.
He’s been a familiar face to much of Southern New England over the past 13 years as the former senior meteorologist at WHDH in Boston.
Pete studied meteorology at one of first colleges in the country to offer a concentration in broadcast meteorology - Lyndon State College in Vermont.
His television career had humble roots in the basement of a motel in White River Junction, Vermont, where WNNE-TV was housed at the time. His next stops were WMTW in Portland, Maine, WVII in Bangor, Maine, WGME in Portland, Maine, and then on to Fox 25 in Boston.
The search for a television home didn’t end there though. He returned to Portland to work at Fox 51 with his wife as anchor before moving to WHDH in Boston in 2002.
All along the way, he gained experience across all of New England’s microclimates, visited countless schools (where some of the students went onto become interns of his), civic organizations and donated time to dozens of charities.
Pete has received numerous accolades in his long career from the Associated Press, Maine Association of Broadcasters, two Emmy nominations and three Best of Boston awards.
In his spare time, he embarrasses himself on the guitar and likes making sawdust in his workshop.

Flurries Wednesday before widespread wintry weather moves in overnight
Storms keep rolling — and we’re rolling out the details for our next event. We’ll see lots of clouds Wednesday, with a few random flurries or snow showers sweeping in from the ocean. Much of the snow will be nuisance-type, but there could be a couple of coatings if the snow holds together for an hour. This is small potatoes,...

Weekend storm could drop up to 9 inches of snow
The forecast is quiet today and tomorrow in terms of storms, but there’s a lot of hollering in the wind department. Gusts could top 40 mph today as the cold air surges back in behind yesterday’s storm. We’ll still be “warm” enough for highs in the mid/upper 30s but we’ll fall back to the teens and low 20s overnight. Saturday...

FIRST ALERT: First of a series of snowstorms moves into New England
The pattern has gone haywire. Admittedly, the next 10 days may give you flashbacks to the infamous snow blitz 10 years ago, but at least in this case, we may be skipping out on the blockbuster snowstorms. We’ve issued a First Alert for Thursday, the first of a series of winter storms moving into our area in the coming days....

Tracking the incoming wintry mix, set to bring snow, rain and ice to New England
In the annals of weather patterns, this is a busy one. We have three storms in the pipeline through the middle of next week. Sure, there are long pauses between the storms to catch our breath, but where we stay mostly snow in tucked away corners of northern New England, the snowpack is going to be deep. Here, not so...

Plummeting temperatures and another hit of snow
A few snow showers will cling to eastern Massachusetts this morning as our weather system slowly moves out. Sunshine will gradually return, but cold continues to funnel in from the north. The “warmest” part of our day will be this morning, then temperatures will fall this afternoon. Wind is back too. Gusts will top 25mph, creating wind chills in the...

Will it snow in New England on Friday?
Rain is approaching later this morning. I know what you’re thinking. How could it NOT be snow or ice? After all, we’re staring at low to mid 20s this morning. Since our precipitation is delayed, it buys us time to warm up. Significantly, in fact. Highs will leap to the low 40s later this afternoon, ensuring we’re mostly liquid for...

Sunny but chilly, then tracking our next chance for rain or snow
The pattern remains busy, but at least the wind will back off a bit in the coming days. How cold will it feel on Thursday? We’re greeted with more sunshine today, but the air is much colder. Instead of highs near 50, we’ll have to settle for the upper 20s to near 30 with a numbing wind chill in the...

Snow, wind and dropping temps: What to expect from incoming winter blast
As if Monday’s earthquake wasn’t enough, we have rapid-fire weather systems coming at us this week. First up is the arctic front passing through on Tuesday. Not much fanfare other than a quick snow shower Tuesday morning and a bunch of wind. The biggest takeaway will be the dropping temperatures through the afternoon. Windchills drop into the teens as well....

Brief warmup Sunday, plowable snow possible next week
The weekend looks pretty quiet, but after Saturday, we have a mini thaw in store. Few clouds will move in later Saturday, and after a very cold start, we’ll manage to muster the upper 20s to low 30s. Sunday, we’ll bounce back to the upper 30s as the breezes blow in more clouds and a passing snow shower or flurry...

Arctic air pulling back, warmup coming this weekend
The arctic air is pulling back, but the warmup is somewhat muted until the second half of the weekend. Sunshine will dominate Friday and hoist us out of the single digits and into the low 30s by afternoon. A weak cold front will pass through with barely any fanfare. It should give us a little bump DOWN in temperatures Saturday,...
