Pete Bouchard joined the NBC 10 Boston and necn family in January of 2016, and broadcasts weekday evenings.
He’s been a familiar face to much of Southern New England over the past 13 years as the former senior meteorologist at WHDH in Boston.
Pete studied meteorology at one of first colleges in the country to offer a concentration in broadcast meteorology - Lyndon State College in Vermont.
His television career had humble roots in the basement of a motel in White River Junction, Vermont, where WNNE-TV was housed at the time. His next stops were WMTW in Portland, Maine, WVII in Bangor, Maine, WGME in Portland, Maine, and then on to Fox 25 in Boston.
The search for a television home didn’t end there though. He returned to Portland to work at Fox 51 with his wife as anchor before moving to WHDH in Boston in 2002.
All along the way, he gained experience across all of New England’s microclimates, visited countless schools (where some of the students went onto become interns of his), civic organizations and donated time to dozens of charities.
Pete has received numerous accolades in his long career from the Associated Press, Maine Association of Broadcasters, two Emmy nominations and three Best of Boston awards.
In his spare time, he embarrasses himself on the guitar and likes making sawdust in his workshop.

Frigid air is over New England, bringing low temps down to single digits
Cold temperatures are the focus over the next couple of days. While this chunk of cold air is part of the polar vortex, it’s not going to hang over us forever, and it appears that it won’t rival the cold we saw almost two years ago when we hit ten below in Boston on Feb. 4. But it’s no picnic,...

Snow moving out Monday morning, extreme cold moving in
Snow scoots out first thing this morning, and in its wake is a whole lot of cold. Winds will gust to near 30 mph as some of the coldest air of the season is ushered in. This will be our primary focus for the next couple of days. Wind chills will remain a few degrees either side of zero, but...

What is a polar vortex? And what does it mean for New England next week?
Some of the coldest air in years is expected to plunge into the High Plains, Midwest and finally the East in the coming days as arctic air dips down into the Lower 48 for a spell. The mere mention of the term “polar vortex” can set your head spinning (and maybe eyes rolling). It’s got to be clickbait, right? Or...

Rain, snow expected this weekend in parts of New England. Here's how much
The wind has backed way off, and while the temperatures are still chilly, we’re enjoying the quiet in the next couple of days. That silence will be broken with a few showers and more stiff breezes into the weekend. We’ll rise from the low 30s Thursday to the mid-40s by Saturday. The weekend isn’t washed out, either. Most of the...

Below freezing temperatures again today
The winds are still going Wednesday, but the air temperatures remain at respectable levels. Highs will manage to weasel up to 30 in most spots. It’s too bad we’re not going to feel them at face value. Instead, we’re dressing for temps in the teens all day today. Thursday and Friday are the picks of the week. There will be...

Gusty winds return Tuesday, bringing wind chills to the single digits again
The wind is back. And no one is happy. Well, at least it won’t be 10 days of it. Instead, you’ll have to settle for two, with occasional gusts to 35-40 mph. Not nearly as intense as the last go-round, but still enough to produce wind chills in the single digits and teens through Wednesday. Thursday the winds are much...

A slight warmup Monday — then another blast of frigid air and wind
We’re in for more melting on Monday, as sunshine blends with clouds and the arctic air holds back for another day. We’re expecting highs around 40 with a steady breeze. Late afternoon snow showers are possible, just as the sun goes down. This will usher in colder air for Tuesday — along with more dreaded wind. With gusts expected through...

Brutal cold Thursday plus wind advisories across Mass., NH and Conn.
