Celebrities mourned the loss of Leonard Cohen, a legendary singer-songwriter who so many others have cited as an influence and died Thursday night.

Called "utterly unique and impossible to imitate" by Nick Cave, he was known for writing folk music with an edge, creating famous tunes such as "Hallelujah," "Suzanne" and "Bird on a Wire." Cohen was also a poet, novelist and an aspiring Zen monk.
