Adam Rippon Reflects on His Olympic Moments

Figure skater Adam Rippon became a star at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, but his rise to stardom was not without political controversy. Rippon, the first openly gay U.S. Olympic figure skater, turned down an invitation to meet Vice President Mike Pence in Pyeongchang.

Let's be honest, we all saw this coming.

"Dancing With the Stars: Athletes" shortened four-week run came to an end on Monday night, with three celebrity athletes left in the running: Adam Rippon, Tonya Harding and Josh Norman.

By the end we saw the athlete long predicted to win the whole thing hoist the mirrorball trophy in the air: Adam Rippon.

The Olympic figure skater and his professional partner Jenna Johnson beat Harding and Sasha Farber, and Norman and Sharna Burgess, to take home the big win.

For his final performance on the show, Rippon and Johnson delivered a freestyle unlike anything seen on DWTS, including Rippon rocking a bowl-cut wig.

"This freestyle is different. It's quirky, it's fun, and I think it totally embodies me as a person," he said. "And I want to share that with America. I am ready for that mirror ball trophy."

DWTS will return this fall on Mondays, with "Dancing With the Stars: Juniors" set to air on Sundays on ABC.
