‘An American in Paris'

"An American in Paris" is kicking off its national tour in Boston, playing at the Wang Theater through Nov. 6.

The musical tells the story of a handsome American soldier who stays behind in Paris after World War II, where he falls in love with a beautiful ballerina named Lise.

Sara Esty plays Lise.

"She's trying to follow her dreams as a ballerina and she has a lot of layers to her," Esty said. "when I found out that I had got the lead in the tour, they said 'I wish we could just duplicate you.' I was like 'guys, I literally have a duplicate of myself.'"

Leigh-Ann Esty is Sara's identical twin sister and is serving as Sara's alternate in the show. The two admit performing together does bring them back to their childhood in Gorham, Maine. There, they performed in local theater and studied dance.

Eventually, both became professional ballerinas with the Miami City Ballet. Their hometown of Gorham is showing their support for the show as well.

According to the Esty twins, the town is chartering two buses for residents to see the show.
