    Man Allegedly Made Disturbing Offer to Teen in Randolph

    A man is accused of trying to pay a 16-year-old girl for sex in Randolph, Massachusetts.

    A Massachusetts man was scheduled to face a judge Thursday after police say he allegedly offered a teenaged girl cash in exchange for sexual acts last week in Randolph.

    Glenn Everett, 55, of Middleborough, was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on a charge of engaging in sexual conduct for a fee with a child under age 18.

    Police said on June 21, a 16-year-old girl walked into the Randolph Police station lobby to report an incident that had happened at a bus stop on North Main Street a short time earlier.

    The teen told police that while she was waiting for the bus, a man, later identified as Everett, walked up to her and engaged in conversation.

    In the conversation, Everett allegedly offered the teen cash in exchange for sexual acts.

    "This male party asked her if she wanted to go behind the building and strip and show her body to him," prosecutor Rita Muse said.

    Muse added that Everett allegedly asked her if she wanted to get something to eat, trying to get her into his car.

    "She believed he wanted her to go with him so he could rape her," she said.

    Everett allegedly continued to bother the girl and ask her questions before she eventually walked away and walked across the street.

    The teen told police Everett then walked back to his car and left.

    Before Everett left, the teen was able to take a photo of Everett, which she provided to police.

    Through an investigation, police were able to identify him and arrest him without incident on Wednesday.

    In court, defense attorney John Gibbons suggested the girl may have misunderstood Everett.

    "They're asking her for her opinion as to his state of mind. It's outrageous," Gibbons said.

    Randolph Police Chief William Pace issued a statement, praising the teen's bravery:

    "The girl was very brave to walk away and even take a picture of the man who approached her so that perhaps another young girl will not have to go through this same ordeal," Pace said.
