Southern California based dog shelter Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue (QBSDR) is dedicated to saving special needs corgis and corgi mixes from California's kill shelters and homes that can no longer house them.
Photographer Casey Christopher met many of QBSDR's special needs pups while doing a photo series of them before and after they received treats. Christopher named the series "Lowriders" and hopes the photos will help the animals get adopted, she said.
Each corgi in the series has either a behavioral, neurological or other medical need and are in what the rescue calls "rehab" right now, meaning that they are working on the animal's' health or behavioral issues. However, many will be available for foster or adoption soon.
