Puerto Rico Pet Owners Reunited With Animals

Pet owners who fled Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria without their furry friends were reunited this weekend. Twenty-eight pets arrived by plane Saturday. For many pet owners, the cost of getting their pets off the island was too great. That's where the American Humane Society, Wings of Rescue, and the Humane Society of Broward county stepped in.

More than 53,000 pets were adopted through the 2016 Clear the Shelters campaign, a nationwide push to place deserving animals in forever homes. Join the conversation on social media using #ClearTheShelters.
