Boston Globe Magazine Honors Market Basket Workers As “Bostonians of the Year”

The publication says workers captivated the nation by standing by their leader, Arthur T. Demoulas

The Boston Globe Magazine has announced the "Bostonians of the Year" are the Market Basket workers.

The publication said the 25,000 workers earned the distinction when they captivated the nation by standing by their leader and risking their jobs.

"It was a riveting business story that became an even more compelling human interest story," the Globe said.

The grocery store chain employees rallied, and some even left their jobs, to protest the removal of longtime CEO Arthur T. Demoulas in the height of the a family feud.

In the end, Demoulas bought the company and has returned to the helm.

This is the 11th annual edition of "Bostonians of the Year." The magazine hits shelves on Sunday.
