Friendly's Just Closed One of Its Last Boston-Area Locations

What was once a large regional chain of restaurants and ice cream shops has closed one of its last Boston-area locations.

A call to the Stoneham location on Monday confirmed that the dining spot closed on Sunday, Nov. 10.

A source had posted on the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page last month that the Stoneham Friendly's would be shutting down.

Now that the Main Street location has closed, there will no longer be any standalone Friendly's restaurants inside Route 128, as the Logan Airport shop will be the only one remaining; a few others are still open a bit further out, including in Norwood, Peabody, and Weymouth.)

Friendly's, which is headquartered in Wilbraham, was established in Springfield back in 1935.

The address for the now closed location of Friendly's in Stoneham is 611 Main Street (Route 28), Stoneham, MA, 02180. Its website can be found at https://www.friendlys.com/
