Maine AG: Stores Stay Closed on Thanksgiving

Maine Attorney General Janet Mills is reminding state residents that the Pine Tree State does not allow large stores to be open on holidays such as Thanksgiving.

Mills says early Black Friday shopping deals popular elsewhere in the country will not take place in Maine because stores over 5,000 square feet much be closed on certain holidays, including Thanksgiving. She advises that customers who are considering Black Friday shopping check local flyers before they go to stores.

Maine's law restricts opening hours on Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving. It has been in place for 52 years.
