Mass. Gov. Candidates in Business

NECN's Boston Business Editors roundtable discussed the Massachusetts gubernatorial race.

Shirley Leung of the Boston Globe says Charlie Baker, the Republican candidate, is the stronger business candidate, rather than Attorney General Martha Coakley, the Democratic candidate.

"A lot of them haven't crossed paths with the attorney general and they like it that way because the attorney general is the watch dog and she is the one that's suing and investigating, so they don't really have much relationship with her, but they've seen Charlie for many, many years," Leung explained.

George Donnelly of the Boston Business Journal says that the business community is hoping for stability and predictability from the new governor.

"One of the things I think people in Greater Boston are looking for is helping Massachusetts grow beyond what seems to be a somewhat constrained workforce," Donnelly said. "We're having trouble getting more people into the workforce so I think that whole idea around workforce development is a big deal."

In addition, the editors discussed the ballot question over the future of casino gambling in the Bay State.
