Report: Staples Lays Off Hundreds of Employees

The layoffs reportedly involve senior and junior level employees

Hundreds of layoffs have reportedly hit Staples.

That's according to Fortune Magazine, which says the layoffs involve senior and junior level employees.

A company spokesman did not confirm or deny the news.

A press release for the Framingham, Massachusetts, based office supply company says that Staples is undergoing leadership changes and streamlining its structure. This comes after two years of store closures.

Staples has more than 2,000 stores worldwide, including more than 100 in New England. Its first store opened in Boston's Brighton neighborhood in 1986.
