Student loan debt - and repaying it - has been in the news this week.

Jennifer Lane, a certified financial planner with Compass Planning, talks about ways to handle student loan debt.

Jack in Cambridge asks: "I started paying my student loans in December on a graduated schedule. My friends say that will cost me a lot more in interest. Do you think I'm making a mistake?"

Susan in Holliston writes: "We're expecting a new baby in September so our budget is tight. Does it make sense to look at the new income-based loan payment plans the government is offering?"

Elizabeth in Reading asks: "Our daughter got into all three of the schools she applied to ... both state and private. The private schools are offering no aid except loans. Her argument for the expensive private schools is that she'll have her whole career to pay off the debt. What do you think?"
