(NECN) - PAREXEL has gone through more than 35 mergers and acquisitions, helping the company grow and expand its ability to help clients.

CEO, chairman, and co-founder Josef von Rickenbach says most of the company's growth has been organic, but they have used a merger and acquisition strategy keen on adding to what the company already had.

The acquisitions focused on smaller companies that could bring new expertise, geographic access, or technology to PAREXEL.

"For the most part, they have been successful," von Rickenbach said. "We're very careful in our selection criteria and our selection process. We try to do smart deals - meaning that are fair to both the acquired company and to us. And we have a very careful integration process, to make sure we don't lose them after the acquisition is made."
