BBJ Report: Civic Technology

Boston has become the hub for civic technology

We know Boston has become a hot bed for tech-savy entrepreneurs. A new technological movement is now upon us.

"Techies connecting residents with city government," published in the Boston Business Journal, is the story that highlights the movement.

BBJ tech editor David Harris joined NECN to discuss his piece.

The movement is labeled civic technology. "Civic technology is the use of technology to improve cities, government and communities at large," said Harris.

Boston has become the hub for civic tech due to the emphasis the city places on innovation, according to Harris.

Harris went on to discuss some of the cool civic tech things going on in Boston, including sensors beneath the ground that alert drivers when parking spaces become available.
