4 Texas Police Officers Disciplined After Hazing

One Houston-area police officer has lost his job and three others were disciplined after a new member of a tactical team was shot with a bean bag round.

Rosenberg police Chief Dallis Warren told KPRC-TV on Wednesday that he considers the matter hazing.

The incident captured on surveillance video happened in May outside a police station in Rosenberg, 25 miles southwest of Houston. The officer wore protective gear but suffered a leg bruise when the bean bag used for training struck an exposed area. Other officers are heard laughing.

Lt. Aaron Slater was fired by Warren, but was later allowed to resign. Three other officers were demoted, suspended or given reprimands.

Slater told KPRC that the incident was not hazing but doing it may have been a mistake.
