Twin River Hotel Expansion Gets Go-Ahead from General Assembly

Casino is proposing construction of 200- to 250-room hotel

A Rhode Island casino is one step closer to getting approval to construct a hotel.

The Woonsocket Call reports the General Assembly gave final approval to House and Senate bills in support of constructing a hotel at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln.

If Gov. Gina Raimondo signs the legislation, Twin River officials will be able to go to the town's zoning and planning board to begin their review.

The legislation would undo a state prohibition against construction of a hotel at Twin River. It also requires the casino to fulfill all local review requirements to move the project forward.

Twin River is proposing the construction of a 200- to 250-room hotel attached to the existing casino building.
