Vermont Health Officials Announce 2nd Human Case of West Nile Virus

A Windsor County resident was hospitalized mid-July with West Nile virus

Health officials in Vermont have announced a second human case of West Nile virus this summer.

The Vermont Department of Health says a Windsor County resident was hospitalized mid-July with neuroinvasive West Nile virus, which they describe as a more serious form of the illness affecting the nervous system.

No other details about the patient or the patient's condition were released.

Officials say none of the mosquito pools has tested positive for West Nile or Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
