Police have arrested a Stratford, Connecticut, bookkeeper on larceny and other charges related to accusations she embezzled more than $200,000 from a plastic surgeon.
The Hour of Norwalk reports that Gloria Lavae Tamayo is charged with first-degree larceny, third-degree forgery and identity theft. Her cash bond was set at $239,000.
Police say Dr. Laurence Kirwan, a Norwalk plastic surgeon, noticed irregularities in his office's bookkeeping in August.
Police said Detective William Maloney learned that Tamayo, the office's bookkeeper, had been writing unauthorized checks to herself since 2010. Police accuse the 43-year-old Tamayo of embezzling at least $209,075.
