Police are looking for the driver who hit an 11-year-old boy and drove off Tuesday evening in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The child was trying to cross the street in the crosswalk when he was hit by a black sedan near 710 Pleasant Street around 6 p.m., according to authorities.

The boy was receiving medical attention from Worcester EMS when police arrived on scene. His injuries are not considered life threatening, according to the Worcester Police Department.

During the investigation officers learned that the vehicle was possibly a dark colored four door sedan. The investigation is ongoing.

Surveillance video from Bob Belanus' nearby home shows the crash. The video shows two kids in a crosswalk on Pleasant Street, then a black sedan hitting one of them, knocking him out of his shoes and tossing him onto the pavement.

“I heard a loud — what sounded like a truck door being slammed shut,” he told NBC10 Boston Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the driver appeared to slow down but then drove off.

Monika Raci, who owns Newton Square Pizza across the street, ran out to help the boy and console his mother.

“I just said to her, ‘Keep talking. Don’t move him. Don’t move his head. Just keep taking. Just say good things,’” Raci said.

The boy is expected to recover.

The crash happened at a busy rotary where Belanus said he sees more than one crash a week, and that some take out part of his fence.

“It creates a situation where people don’t interact in a very good way here,” he said.
