For the first time in 34 years, USA Today's editorial board declared sides in a presidential race, calling Trump “unfit for the presidency,” NBC News reported. The board encouraged voters to “resist the siren sound of a dangerous demagogue.” The editorial made it clear, however, that it was not endorsing Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton for president. Other historically-conservative newspapers have denounced Trump, including The Detroit News, Arizona Republic, The Cincinnati Enquirer, Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle. For most, it was the first time they would not endorse the Republican nominee. Trump blasted the papers in a Friday morning tweet: "The people are really smart in cancelling subscriptions to the Dallas & Arizona papers & now USA Today will lose readers! The people get it!"
