72-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver

Police say that Long had pulled over to the side of the road in Rochester after the gas grill came out of the back of his pickup truck

A 72-year-old New Hampshire man trying to retrieve a gas grill on the side of the road has been struck and killed by another motorist who was arrested for drunk driving. 

New Hampshire State police say that Eric Grabowski, 51, of Middleton, N.H. was traveling north onto Route 16 Tuesday evening in Concord in a 2015 Subaru station wagon when he struck Kenneth Long, 72, of Sanbornville, N.H. 

Police say that Long had pulled over to the side of the road in Rochester after the gas grill came out of the back of his pickup truck. Long was in the roadway attempting to retrieve the grill when he was struck. Long was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Grabowski was arrested for DUI. 

Police closed Route 16 northbound at exit 16 for about four hours.
