Assumption College Student Defends Confessed Norway Killer

Assumption College released the following statement on Friday, April 20:
"Kevin Forts will not be on the Assumption College campus for the foreseeable future, and his conduct is under administrative review. Federal law prevents us from commenting substantively on student conduct and records."

(NECN: Katelyn Tivnan) – Twenty-two-year-old Kevin Forts created controversy in an interview with Norwegian tv.

The Assumption College student voiced his support of Andres Behring Breivik, the man who's confessed to killing 77 people, including children, in Norway last July.

"Try to help him ideologically sending letters of support. He’s a patriot."

In an interview with Norwegian newspaper VG, Forts says he has reached out to Breivik to show his support.

Fort says Breviks actions demonstrate a moral conscience.

He says it's a sign of his fight against Marxism and the Islamication of Norway.

"It was atrocious but necessary and raised awareness and he did that with the executions in Utoya and Oslow."

Hundreds have already commented on Forts interview on social media.

Most do no share Forts views.

In the meantime in Holden, forensic psychologist Marieke Liem spoke to law enforcement agencies from across the state Thursday.

Liem has researched violent criminals, including Breivik, and says he is an example of a domestic terrorist.

"They were willing to die for their cause and believed in their ideologies to such an extent they planned it for many years, some for months but in Breaiviks case for almost nine years."

Leim’s presentation aims to give law enforcement officials a better understanding of how the minds of these violent criminals work.

As for Forts comments, Assumption College released a statement saying:
"Kevin Forts has expressed his personal opinion on the Breivik case, and as a U.S. citizen, he is afforded that right. Assumption College condemns the violence that occurred in Norway last July and does not support the opinions expressed by Mr. Forts. The college extends its sympathy to the victims of the violence and their families."
