Boston Archdiocese Announces 1st Phase of Overhaul

(NECN) – Boston's Roman Catholic Archdiocese has announced the first phase of a dramatic reorganization.

Thursday, the archdiocese released the list of its first 12 collaboratives.

It includes 28 parishes.

The archdiocese says that by 2019 all 288 parishes will be grouped into about 135 collaboratives.

Each will include a single priest.

The overhaul is a response to weak attendance, failing parish finances, and a priest shortage.
