Downpours Leave Damage in Eastern Mass.

(NECN: Josh Brogadir, Malden, Mass.) - Wednesday was a tale of two New Englands. Tropical downpours for some, a day of drying out for others. In the east, another day of rain, flooding and storm damage. In the west, signs of a return of sunshine.

Four straight days of rain, much needed, but also leading to flooding and falling trees.

There was a displeasing surprise on Pleasant Street in Malden - a massive tree that fell across this Ford F350 pickup truck.

The damage is incredible, a smashed in windshield, the roof of the cab caved in.

The driver and his passenger miraculously just avoiding serious injuries.

There was flooding in a usual spot, Route 107 on the Lynn/Saugus line.

One stuck car didn't stop the others from going around.

In Somerville, it was the same routine for the second time in as many months, squad cars on flatbeds - sandbags down - floods caused the closing of the public safety building - though this time it wasn't nearly as bad.

And in Beverly, a building partially collapsed.

Inspectors are investigating if it went down because of the weather.
