Dr. Ludwig: ‘All Calories Are Not Alike'

(NECN) - For people looking to shed some pounds, the options for diets can be overwhelming. From low-carb to low-fat, it seems there is an array of conflicting diet theories. What is the best method?

Dr. David Ludwig of Boston Children's Hospital, Lead Author of the Study on the "Effects of Carbohydrates on Weight Loss", joined "The Morning Show" to discuss his latest study, which strikes anothre blow to the "a calorie is a calorie" mantra.

Dr. Ludwig developed the Children's Optimal Weight for Life (OWL) Program --a multi-disciplinary care clinic dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of children who are overweight/obese.

Overall, the study found that the best method for successful weight loss was for patients to examine the quality of the carbs and fats being ingested, and to focus on a low-glycemic index diet.
