(NECN: Alysha Palumbo, Boston) - In addition to the two firefighters killed, 18 first responders, including 13 firefighters, were hurt at the scene of a massive 9-alarm fire on Beacon Street in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood Wednesday.
Two of the first responders were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, and one of them, 33-year-old firefighter Michael Kennedy, passed away. Lt. Ed Walsh was also killed in the blaze.
Firefighters, police officers and other first responders gathered from around the area and converged at MGH.
Some came by bus, others arrived on foot after walking several blocks - but all came to pay their respects to Kennedy.
