Firefighters in Barre Fight 3 Blazes

BARRE, Vt. (AP) - The fire chief in the Vermont city of Barre says the three fires believed to have been started by lightning are under control.
The fires were reported within minutes of each other Tuesday morning after a series of thunderstorms.
Barre Fire Chief Tim Bombardier says one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion, but he is back on the job.
Bombardier says officials believe lightning strikes caused the fires, although a final determination has not been made.
Officials say two homes off U.S. Route 302, on Liberty and Waterman streets, were damaged by the fires. A 200-year-old farmhouse on Allen Street was destroyed.
Officials say eight people were living in two apartments in the Allen Street home. It's unclear how many people were living in the other homes.
