(NECN: Greg Wayland, Lowell, Mass.) - Crews are attempting to pump water off of heavily flooded roads in Lowell, Mass.
According to Lowell Fire, residents are remaining in affected homes.
"I think it happened overnight," said Lowell Fire Deputy Chief Robert Flynn. "Normally, there is a little bit of flooding at the end of the street, but not to the extent we have here today."
Neighbors say that flooding has been a constant problem. According to Flynn, proximity to the river did not play a part.
"It's just the amount of rainfall and snow melt, I guess," said Flynn.
