Gun Show Causes Uproar in Stamford, Conn.

(NECN) - Just weeks after the Sandy Hook tragedy, a gun show being held in Conn. this weekend is causing an uproar.

The East Coast Firearms Show is taking place in Stamford, just 40 miles from Newtown.

The event features 250 tables of antique and historical firearms.

The mayor of Stamford said he thinks the event should have been canceled.

“It seems insensitive to have the event continue,” said Mayor Michael Pavia.

While police say this is a show for weapons collectors and is not anything dangerous, they will also maintain a presence at the event.

Similar events in Waterbury, Conn., and Westchester County, N.Y., were canceled.
