(NECN) - A heat wave is enveloping a good portion of Southern New England.

There is a heat watch in effect for many parts of Southern New England. The mercury could rise to dangerously high levels this week.

The National Weather Service has already issued an "excessive heat watch" for portions of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
