Holy Cross Helps Worcester Students Get in Shape

(NECN: Katelyn Tivnan) - The Holy Cross Crusaders are helping hundreds of Worcester public school students "get fit." About 1,900 students took a break from the classroom to get their lessons courtside instead.

This is the second year the college has hosted "Get Fit with the Crusaders Day." Students from third to eighth grade participated in the event.

The goal of the program is to use basketball as a tool to talk about health, and physical fitness.

Bill Gibbons, the women's basketball coach, says his players are role models for the young fans.

"I don't think its ever too young to start thinking about eating right, getting off the computer, and getting out getting fresh air and exercise," says Gibbons.
