Huggard: Potential Civil Charges Against Zimmerman Could Take Months

(NECN) - In the emotional aftermath of the Trayvon Martin killing last year, Attorney General Eric Holder signaled the unlikelihood of filing federal hate crimes charges against admitted shooter George Zimmerman.

Stephen Huggard, Partner at Edwards Wildman, former prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice and the co-chair of The Government Enforcement and White Collar Crime Practice, joined NECN with insight.

He said it will probably take a few months if civil charges against Zimmerman are pursued, since evidence will need to be reviewed.

Huggard said that the case is longer questioning whether or not Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin, but why he did it.
