Impending Igor Causes Travel Changes

(NECN: Tom Langford, Boston, Mass.) - Hurricane Igor is causing problems for the island of Bermuda, where the storm is headed with an expected arrival early Monday. But it's having a ripple effect for businesses in other places, especially cruise ships. NECN's Tom Langford is at the Black Falcon Terminal in Boston where one cruise ship is making a change of plans ahead of the storm.

For June and David Byrne, this is a dream vacation that just got even better.

"I have to say, I was nervous about it."

After watching the weather and worrying that hurricane Igor would ruin their 30th anniversary cruise to Bermuda, they are ecstatic Norwegian Cruise lines changed course and is sending their ship to the Bahamas instead.

"You've got to give it to Norwegian for stepping up to the plate. They could've stuck is up in Maine or Canada somewhere. But we're going where it's warm, we're happy."

And most passengers getting on the ship at Boston's black falcon terminal we're happy for the change of destination.

"It's going to be my first time, so yes I'm pretty excited."

However, others were really looking forward to those pink sandy beaches of Bermuda, and are disappointed with the change.

"Very disappointed. We've been to the Bahamas, so we know what it's like, it's nothing like Bermuda."

But June and David Byrne don't care, they're just glad to be out of the path of the storm.

"I was watching it, the wind speed and wondering, is Bermuda going to be intact when we get there? All these things go through your head."
