A call cam in at 2:21 this afternoon to report the device.

According to Police Superintendent Dan Linskey, a former chemistry professor from UMass Lowell had an appointment with Senator Brown, and brought a device with him that looked suspicious. The man brought in what looked like a fuel canister with wires attached to it.

The former professor said he wanted to show Sentor Brown an experiment that he thought brought down TWA Flight 800 in 1996. The man was stopped during the regular screening process and never made it to Senator Brown's office. The building was evacuated as a precaution.
