Liberal Groups Want Barney Frank Appointed Interim Mass. Senator

(NECN) – Mass. Sen. John Kerry is expected to be the next Secretary of State.

Former Mass. Congressman Barney Frank has already said he wants to replace Kerry until a special election is held.

Now liberal groups are pressuring Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick to appoint Frank.

The Progressive Change of Campaign Committee and Sign-On.org say Frank is the best man for the job.

Frank himself started lobbying for the job last week and he's also now reportedly backing Congressman Ed Markey for the elected Senate position,  praising him for his leadership on the issues of gun control and climate change.
